Media had an opportunity to tour the construction of the Dartmouth General Hospital.  The expansion and renovation will result in space for 48 beds on the fifth floor plus eight new operating rooms to replace four existing suites while adding four more. It also includes extensive upgrades to outpatient and diagnostic imaging areas.

The second of three tenders for construction services was also issued today. This tender is for construction of the exterior of the new additions including masonry, structural steel, metal cladding and roofing.

The deadline for submissions is July 18. Details of the tender are available at http://novascotia.ca/tenders/tenders/ns-tenders.aspx. The final tender for construction services is expected to be released later this year.
